Hey Everyone,
I am currently teaching a still life workshop at Whisbey Island Fine Art Studio. Tomorrow, Saturday November 14 at 10:30am Pacific Time we will be broadcasting my demo of The Overpainting on a portion of my still life demonstration piece. Please follow https://www.periscope.tv/nettycary to tune in. This is my first experience with Periscope so I hope it all goes well. For those of you who cannot attend a workshop this will be a unique opportunity for you to get a “look in” to one of my classes.

Watch it on Periscope?…easier said than done for me. The link goes to the Whidbey Island website but no clicking around brings up anything. Periscope shows a succession of clips to watch. Can’t figure it out.
I hope that your clip eventually appears on youtube or on your own website or will be available for purchase download.

Sorry. Are you on Twitter and Periscope? If not you will need to be in order to watch. These broadcasts will not be available anywhere else. It’s possible that future broadcasts may be. I’m still figuring things out.

I have just finished watching your demo via Periscope. Great to be an observer, but a couple of suggestions. …1) It was very difficult to see what you were actually doing due to the lighting, angle and distance from the painting. Perhaps if we could have seen the big screen the students were watching , that might have solved the problem. I’m not sure how that would’ve impacted the quality of the picture though.
2) It was a little difficult at times to hear the students’ questions/comments, so restating them would be a great help.
Otherwise, it was great to listen in and I came away with some useful info……….no tedium noted from this end!

Thanks so much for sharing your demo on Periscope, it was very interesting to hear your thoughts on the process. As you have asked for feedback, it would have been helpful to see the still life set up, only the dish on the left was visible. The initial overexposed picture was resolved quite quickly, but it would have been easier to follow if the camera had zoomed in a bit closer as the focus was not very sharp. Nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to see you at work, thanks again.

It’s 17 hours gap from Korea, so I woke up in the middle of the night 3:30am to see your demo.
It was great to listen to your process, tiling and blending, thanks for sharing and explaining all detail process.
As other ppl suggested, it would’ve been better if we could see the process at a closer distance. Yet it was a great opportunity, and pleasure to see the atmosphere of the studio. Thanks David.

I was so excited to be able to see your lesson. I used my iPad and at first the focus and lighting were not good but got better. I agree with ones who said it would have been better if the angle were different so we could see you applying the paint, and seeing what you were working from. All I could see was a bit of the white bowl. I thought I would just listen, but then the sound became broken up and I was only able to hear you now and then little parts. Wanted to learn more about tiles.
Is this lesson on today (24 hours) too? I thought I might try to hear it on my desk top, but I don’t think it was my iPad. I checked the sound and it was turned. It sounded like someone partially unplugged the cord.
Anyway I will try today to see if you are on for the 24 hour period and definitely try tomorrow.
